   You all should have been in IOWA. Yes. In Iowa. Right outside of Des Moines, in Newton, Iowa, the very first IOWA INDYCAR RACE was held a few days ago. It broke attendance records so much, that 15,000 extra seats were sold. Oversold!!!
   Fast Cars. Beautiful Women. Or is it, Fast Women. Beautiful Cars.
   Either way, they were both there.

   We are in Minneapolis on other business, then head to NYC for additional business. Then, we head to Richmond, Virginia for the RICHMOND INDY RACE.

I have become a huge fan of NGTV.com. I wanted to drop a word to tell everyone to check it out. It is definitely a no holds barred site. Really well put together. Also to say that I checked out Endeverafter's video for "Baby, Baby, Baby". Oh how we all love beautiful women with very little or no clothes on. I'm sure you have seen it. This is a really good up and coming band. I would not be surprised to see them open for the greatest band of all time one day. Wanted to say thank you, because with out NGTV the world would have to view the censored version of the video. You just can't censor rock and roll. This is one really cool band, and I am glad to see them on NGTV. This gives them credibility being that this is a Gene Simmons business venture. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

   I am holding in my sweaty hands, the debut of our SIMMONS COMICS GROUP and in particular, our first title: GENE SIMMONS HOUSE OF HORRORS #1.
   Our friends and partners at IDW PUB, Chris Ryall, Ted Adams and Thomas Waltz really delivered the goods. Great writers/artists and terrific layout.
   Young NICK SIMMONS has his first published work, THE CHILD.
   We will debut GS House of Horrors and our other titles: ZIPPER, DOMINATRIX and INDY - RACE OF THE GALAXIES, as well as Nick's self written/self drawn SKULLDUGGERY (IDW Pub) at Comicon in San Diego on July 27th and 28th.
   We will also bring our GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS tv crew to film the festivities. If you're there, come on over and get your mug on tv.

KISS rocker to attend Indy Corn 250

Newton, Ia. — Iowa Speedway fans, start your turntables.

Gene Simmons, known for his long tongue and fake blood-spewing antics on-stage as a member of KISS, will attend Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250 IndyCar Series race at Iowa Speedway in Newton, said the track's director of media relations, Mike Beecher.

Simmons, the star of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels", a reality TV show on A&E, has helped promote the Indy Racing League since 2006.

The Iowa Corn Indy 250 is noon Sunday and will be carried live on ABC.

Buzz Watch: Gene Simmons’ New Web Video Network “No Good TV” is Fearless

No Good TV is a new web video network geared to 18-34 year-old men, or perhaps I should say boys, because its appeal is clearly to guys who enjoy fart-jokes and rock’n'roll more than high culture. But then again, what else can you expect from a company that has the old Kiss guitarist Gene Simmons, you know with the tongue, as an investor and Chairman of the Board? NGTV balances on the very edge of bad taste, but it’s certainly a whole new kind of web video experience.

Unlike YouTube and along the lines of the hyped online TV service Joost, NGTV aims to have the look and feel of professionally produced television, but totally uncensored and with interactive and animated components.
“Quality programming is our thing, unlike all the user-generated content sites that are out there. We are trying to give MTV and HBO a run for its money”, says Kourosh Taj, Co-President and Head of Programming.

While the comparison to HBO seems a little far-fetched, NGTV certainly looks better than most original web TV networks I have seen out there. Like HBO, NGTV embraces the fact that they can use the work “fuck”, but takes it too a whole other level. You'll see what I mean.

The channel promotes itself as “the world’s largest producer of uncensored celebrity news and entertainment programming”. The on-air hosts Carrie Keagan and Shark Firestone are joined by CG animated NGTV mascots, including Cock Tolstoy, a rooster with an attitude problem and Beaver Brown, a furry, fun loving beaver. The cock and the beaver – NGTV prides itself on being sophomoric:
“We are all about having fun, but never cross the line of being aggressive or angry. We are not a gossip rag. We want celebrities to come here and feel welcome. This is a place where it is appropriate to let loose”, says Kourosh Taj.

The freedom that the Internet as a platform provides, has also allowed NGTV to dig into libraries of content not appropriate for many regular TV-channels.
“For example, I think that we have the largest library of R-rated music videos and we keep on adding over 10,000 hours of original content a month”, says Kourosh Taj.

In order to start promoting the site for its official launch this summer, NGTV have started uploading a few clips from their shows to YouTube.
“The response on YouTube has been amazing. Some days we have had the most viewed clips on all of YouTube”, says Kourosh Taj.

Unlike many of the traditional TV-channels, NGTV fully embraces social media and they totally believe in its power to drive traffic back to their site.
“We are absolutely fans of putting our stuff everywhere. We think its great when people hi-jack our stuff and put it on their sites. It is the greatest compliment we can get and it still has our branding all over it”, says Kourosh Taj.
But how can you monetize this new viral would if people “steal” your stuff?
“We don’t want consumers to have to pay for our content, that’s why we like the ad-supported model. We have also seen that the traffic flow that we have been getting back to our site from the stuff we have put on YouTube has been great. As many as 3 our of 4 people that view our stuff on YouTube end up checking out our site and staying as long as 10-15 minutes on an average”, says Kourosh Taj.

Other plans for monetizing NGTV includes sponsored content and licencing. The beta site is the first phase of a multi-platform launch that encompasses television, mobile and broadband distribution along with a next generation social-networking site set for release later this year.
“I can see our shows being licensed to regular cable TV channels. It’ll be fun, like The Osbournes, where they have to bleep out every other word, but the effect of that can be kind of cool, which that show proved”, says Kourosh Taj.
“Artists need a platform to express themselves freely. It’s the reason artists become artists in the first place and the reason fans become fans. We have created an appropriate place that allows self-expression without of censorship and humiliation. This is a first of its kind experience,” said Kourosh Taj.

The NGTV team is backed by several entertainment industry veterans, including Gene Simmons, entrepreneur and rock legend, Al Cafaro, music industry veteran and former Chairman and CEO of A&M Records, and Jay Vir, who serves as the Co-President. Simmons also serves as Chairman of the Board of NGTV. In Canada, NGTV’s marketing partner is Intertainment Media, Inc.

Headquartered in a 24,000 square foot production facility in Beverly Hills, NGTV boasts a umber of major technology partners, including Akamai, Brightcove, DoubleClick, Avid, Sun Microsystems, Digidesign, IBM and StorageTek. Well I don't actually know if Gene reads these emails but anyway....
My name is Cheryl. I was at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) this weekend and have been going for the past few years since my family are season ticket holders. I have seen you (Gene) a couple of times down in the pits and was fortunate to get your autograph once, which I believe was two or three years ago when you were promoting with the Target team. While at TMS on Saturday, you happened to stop by for an interview at the I AM INDY Stage. I was wearing my i am Indy shirt with a white cap and worked my way up to the stage to try to get your autograph. You looked straight at me a couple of times but didn't sign anything of mine. You seemed to sign everyone else's stuff around me, except mine.... which I was okay with, I understand you are a busy guy. I was holding up a Texas Racing flag, which you can see at the IRL website

and the picture I will attach at the end. I was holding the flag up and had another flag sticking out of my backpack. But while trying to get your autograph in the crowd, my sister-in-law was standing a few feet back from me because she was not able to get up close to where I was at. And she saw a guy steal my other flag out of my backpack and stick it up in the air and you signed it and he took off.
I was first not mad at the fact that I had waited over an hour to see you or even that I had not gotten an autograph or even get one of those free things you and your girls were handing out. But once I turned back to put the unsigned flag back in my backpack and realize that the other flag was gone. I went back to meet my sister-in-law, and she ended up telling me about the guy that stole my flag which you just happened to sign. I then was a little upset. I am 22 years old from McAllen, Texas (about 550 miles south from Texas Motor Speedway) and am rather short, only 5 foot, trying my hardest to get up to the stage and get your autograph being a fan of your music, show, and of course the racing series, and yet some random guy comes along and basically gets himself a free flag and your autograph out of it. Just a little frustrating.

I know this email address was designated to post a question.... although I just really wanted to comment on my little experience at TMS. My question has nothing to do with my trip, but I am a Business Marketing student at the University of Texas - Pan American.  Since watching your show and seeing the logo and slogan of i am INDY everywhere at TMS (including myself purchasing some merchandise), I was just more curious about your marketing alliance Simmons Abramson Marketing.  Do you partner up with any other firms to help promote, if so, who? I know of the i am INDY campaign, are there any other things you promote? I will be graduating in a year, is there anything in particular that you are looking for when hiring?

   Sweetheart. I REALLY try and 'connect' with as many people as possible. I consider my life a privilege and a blessing and I owe it all to you. And, people like you. 
   And, despite the fact that you thought you and I made 'contact", I may not have been looking straight at you and in either case, it's simply impossible to sign everyone's stuff. I try. But, there's no way I can do it.
   So, while I do my best, there will ALWAYS be disgruntled people who feel they were PERSONALLY slighted by ME!!!
   Most importantly, I DO appreciate a kind word and a smile from a beautiful woman.

   Please, everyone stop sending "Business Ideas". I know you have one. We all do. But, it doesn't mean anything. Unless and if you can implement (make it happen -- which means you have to have money, distribution and other aspects covered), no one will give you the time of day. Neither will I.
   And, that's not because you're not a nice person. I'm sure you are.
   Stop sending ideas. 
   Only send "Business Proposals."
   If you don't know what that means, don't send anything.

Gene Simmons is scheduled to appear on the syndicated daytime talker "The Tyra Banks Show", on Tuesday, June 12.

A&E extends 'Family' run
Simmons reality show gets another season

A&E has said yes to a third season of "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels," upping its order to 24 half-hours from last season's 20.
The decision was an easy one: "Jewels" is A&E's second highest rated series ever in adults 18-49 and 25-54, behind only "Dog the Bounty Hunter." "Jewels" did even better in the second season than the first, leaping by 15% in total viewers to a 1.5 million average and climbing by 11% in adults 18-49 and by 8% in 25-54.

A&E's relationship with Simmons started with a one-shot "Biography" hour of the rock legend and KISS frontman. That "Biography" episode scored so well in the Nielsens that A&E negotiated with Simmons and the exec producer Leslie Greif to create a 13-episode weekly half-hour series that would delve into Simmons' life with his common-law partner Shannon Tweed and their teenage son and daughter.

Unlike the stars of MTV's "The Osbournes," the model for reality shows built around a dysfunctional rock performer and his family, Simmons and his household "are highly functional, intelligent and witty," said Rob Sharenow, senior VP of nonfiction and alternative programming for A&E and a co-exec producer of "Jewels." "They're in constant motion, and Gene is always working on dozens of projects. It's more like a scripted series than a reality show."

While reruns of "CSI Miami" and "The Sopranos" are harvesting lots of viewers for A&E, "Jewels" is one of the weekly firstrun series, along with "Dog the Bounty Hunter," "The First 48," "Intervention" and "Criss Angel: Mindfreak," that have propelled A&E into the ranks of the 10 highest-rated cable networks. During the first quarter, A&E shot up by 54% in total viewers and by more than 40% in the three key adult demos (18-49, 25-54 and 18-34).

In regards to the magazine article with Sharon Osbourne after you criticised her family.,... THANK YOU Gene for being able to say something that many people wished they have the ability to get into print. In watching your show each week, it's a pleasure to see a family get along so well and be able to joke with one another. When her show was on TV the kids disrespected both parents as all you would hear throughout the show was beep beep beep. When she also mentioned that you were a C-List celebrity, how funny is that. People may only know one KISS song, never been to a concert, but when the C-List celebrity sticks out his tounge every chants GENE GENE GENE !!!!! Mrs. Osbourne wished she was on that list !!

   OK. For the record. No one criticized Sharon's kids. Certainly not me. And, as regards Sharon's response, if anyone took pot shots at my kids, I might respond the same, perhaps. Sharon and Ozzy are terrific and Ozzy in particular is a sweetheart.

   Thank you all for sending those heartfelt letters of support for our Brave Men and Women in the Military. All Branches.
   Lest we forget, besides being Heroes, they are someone's Son and Daughter, who VOLUNTEERED, with little pay to do something they believe in. 
   We have been deluged by literally thousands and thousands of emails expressing the emotion and pride people have for our troops. And, while we can't post all the emails, for obvious reasons, we have tried to show a sampling that reflected the emotion of the emails.

   Since last we posted, I have been at the INDY 500, the largest live event on Planet Earth, baby. You have never seen anything so dramatic. Volatile weather. 5 crashes (no one hurt). Neck and neck competitive Open Wheel Racing. And, if you've been following CNN and other news outlets, three HellCats: Danica, Sarah and Milka going head to head. No quarter given. No mercy shown.
   We will be attending the DALLAS/FT WORTH INDY Race in two weeks. Check out the racing schedule and come on down.

   We are currently finishing up a One Hour GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS Special on TURKS AND CAICOS - an island/nation in the Caribbean, hosted by our good friend Premier Michael Misick. We are down here on a big, new business venture and our tv crews decided to follow me here to film the goings on.
   What I CAN say, is that the Premier, who is quite athletic and adventurous, lined up a series of "hurdles/events/experiences" he wanted me to go through, as part of my learning curve re Turks and Caicos. And, to be honest, I have never done any of them. Some of the hurdles made me scream like a 12 year old girl bungee jumping for the first time. By the way, not far from the truth (not the 12 year old girl part, wise guy).
   You will see all of it soon enough.
