Is Gene Simmons the next SpongeBob?

KISS star is inspired dad on animated children's show

By David E. Williams

(CNN) -- Gene Simmons, the fire-breathing, blood-spitting KISS star, just might be the next SpongeBob, thanks to his latest project: "My Dad the Rock Star."

The show recently started airing in the United States on the cable channel Nickelodeon, alongside animated favorites like "Jimmy Neutron," "Rugrats" and "The Fairly Oddparents."

It's a typical tale of pre-teen rebellion, complete with green hair, tattoos and screams of "turn that music down." Only in this case, dad's the rebel and his son is the one seeking a quiet, normal life.

Hi Gene,

Last Saturday, March 19th, I went to a Lenny Kravitz show here in Brasilia, DF, Brasil, where I live. We all know he's a great fan of yours, too, and in this show he included the chorus of "I Love it Loud"..... Ok, it was a great homage, but in the other hand, its copyright is yours...... Just wanted to let you know. In time, I loved the party you and the guys did for the little David Dingman, at the Ellen Show. That was great!
Sincerely yours,
Marcos Besenhofer

NO TRUTH TO THE RUMOR that I will be appearing at the MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX. Never heard of it and know nothing about it. The source of this item? LA SOURCE. From now on, consider this source suspect.

God of Thunder,

I met you in ''78 in New Orleans when you were there to announce KISS being Grand Marshals in The Endymion Parade for Mardi Gras '79. If any one doesn't know, Mardi Gras was canceled that year, and we didn't get to have you here. I was severely bummed.

Well, as bad luck would have it, I was unable to attend the Endymion Parade this year, and once again, I missed seeing you in the parade. I saw the pics, and it looked like you had a great time. I'm glad you finally made it.

Any way, I was at the St. Patrick's Day Parade this past weekend, and lo and behold, what do I see coming down the street...

Hey Gene,

I hope everything is well with you. I wanted to ask - have you checked out Sylvester Stallone's magazine called Sly. He makes a comment about your magazine in the letters page. Someone writes in "So which is going to be the best magazine - Sly, Gene Simmons' Tongue or Oprah Magazine?

Sly responds "It all depends on what you like. If you are a fanatical loyal soldier in the KISS army - and therefore a fanatically unemployed drifter - you may go for Tongue. If you're a househusband into Fluffernutters, Julia Roberts and crying, you'll want to read Oprah. If your neither of those things, you're gonna like Sly".

What do you think about that response from Sly? That was sort of harsh. Anyway, just giving you the heads up, if case you didn't see it. I wish you all the best.

Adam

Response from Gene:

Stallone has nothing to explain to anyone. He's a self made guy. He deserves everything he's got.
The best of luck on his magazine.

March 15th -

Appeared on CNN ShowBiz today with FABIO to shill for my MR. ROMANCE television series. It debuted Mon, March 14th on OXYGEN tv.
Mr. Romance came about when I met the beautiful Miss CINDI GUYER, a former PLAYBOY centerfold (-- in point of fact, she appeared in the very same issue of Playboy that featured me on the cover, ironically enough--) and Romance Novel cover girl. She has appeared on over 1,000 Romance Novel covers. When she and I spoke about the romance novel phenomena, it sounded like a reality show. I immediately named the show MR. ROMANCE, called producer/director LESLIE GRIEF, put Cindi and he together and the rest is on Oxygen.
I went to the Premier Party with Miss Tweed. Attending were Fabio, Miss Cindi, along with most of the Mr. Romance contestants, LESLIE GRIEF and the entire Grief Company. Leslie produced, reshot some of the episodes that needed work and babysat/edited the show. He's my partner and friend for two decades.
A powerful and attractive man.

Hello Gene,

I just finished watching the last episode of Wickedly Perfect on CBS, and I noticed something that was a nice surprise! At the last two contestants 'coming out' parties, I noticed that you were a guest. You looked very sexy, as always. In your opinion, who did you think had thrown the better party? Mitch or Kimberly? Which contestants food touched your tongue more often?

I hope you will be making more surprise television appearances. I like to be surprised...........

Oxygen turns a comic eye on the search for the next Fabio. Oxygen is proving that romance is alive and well and putting the MAN back into romance. Mr. Romance, created by Gene Simmons of KISS, chronicles the trials and tribulations of aspiring Adonises who compete to see who will grace the cover of the next Harlequin romance novel and become the next Fabio.

Mr. Romance premieres Monday, March 14th at 10pm on Oxygen.

From: NBC

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons is among the ten of the "biggest names" in the rock and rap music industry who will join Donald Trump and the remaining 10 candidates during NBC's star-studded "Apprentice" (March 10, 9-10pm ET).
Candidates join forces with music television network Fuse as they petition these 10 celebrities to donate a "personal experience" that will be auctioned off live on Fuse's popular "Daily Download" program. After enlisting each of the music artists for a donation, "Magna" and "Net Worth" select team members to pitch the auction items live on television. The team that brings in the most money will be declared the winner and the proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The blending of the corporate and rock worlds spark some truly hilarious moments as candidates struggle to "vibe" with the artists and to speak their "language." One of the women encounters an overly flirtatious rocker and one of the men's sexist comments offends the women on his team.

Gene,

I am a golf course superintendent and, in February, I was a featured speaker at the Golf Course Superintendent's Association of America's Golf Industry Show. I spoke during a block of presentations called the Innovative Superintendent Session on Feb. 11th. My PowerPoint presentation was 15 minutes in length and held in front of 500-600 superintendents, owners, and golf industry people. There were two big projection screens on either side of me.

At the end of my presentation, I addressed the people I'd like to thank. I thanked my wife and kids for their help and support. The last slide in my PowerPoint is the picture I included with this email. My sister is a concert photographer and took this picture in Washington DC last summer.  She and I are HUGE KISS fans. I felt it only right to thank you guys for 25 years of music and support, especially the times when things were tough at the course and I needed to rock in my car or on my drum kit!!! Ironically the biggest response and applause I received was when the slide came up on the big scene. There were a lot of closet Kiss fans at that show.

A fan for life.....

Once again, KISS gets 'em going at ABBA tribute show!

Hello. Once again, I went to see the amazing ABBA tribute band, Bjorn Again, and this time it was in a small town just north of Philadelphia. The theater was packed and the show was great, but everyone was sitting the entire evening. That is, until halfway through, when Benny and Bjorn, along with the band, did another awesome rendition of KISS's "Rock and Roll All Night." The place just erupted! Everyone was on their feet singing along. There were people high-fiving one another and others dancing in the aisles. That set the pace for the rest of the evening, so by the time they got to "Dancing Queen," everyone was all fired up. And, it was all thanks to KISS!

Gene,

Hey there…I'm not certain if this is the preferred way to send you (and your site) a brief comment and photo. Nonetheless, I wanted to mention that I'm now 39 and have been an avid fan since the first pre-Alive days in mid '75. Yes I was young but was hooked on the material early. There have been some lean times but Kiss is still rocking after all these years, leaving the rest in the dust (ha). In the meantime, I've been in the Air Force nearly 15 years and am currently deployed in Iraq.

Happy Birthday Kiss Alive…30 years! Yeah!!
