"... I was just curious if you happened to notice the "Homage" to the Demon in the semi-new Columbia pictuers movie S.W.A.T. There's a part in the movie where the main characters (played by Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J and Olivier Martinez) are in SWAT training on an abandoned airplane. In this particular scene, the camera scans the crowded airplane filled with test dummies/cardboard cutouts of potential passengers, and if you look closely, one of the cardboard cutouts has Gene Simmons makeup colored on the face. Obviously someone on the crew, maybe producer Neal H. Moritz or director J. Clark Johnson, is a Kiss fan. Just curious if you knew about it or not..."

This was a contest held every year in February for Best Loved of Jacksonville Florida.

This double-bill was certainly the biggest show the arena has seen. The two rock greats played full sets; Kiss played a pyrotechnic marvel, and Aerosmith concentrated on the music. The night ended with tons of confetti and very satisfied fans."
"Best Loved Concert Venue of 2003 For Jacksonville, Florida: Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
The new Veterans Memorial Arena, which openend in November 2003, beat out the Florida Theater for this award. It's obviously not nearly as intimate, as venues go. But as arenas go, it's not too big ( a good thing, if you've ever sat in the nosebleed section) and so far, the acoustics have been warm and big-name acts have showed up. The lineup last year included Kiss/Aerosmith, Elton John and Matchbox Twenty."

 Today, I'm taking off for Beijing, China with my partners. I'll be going to a few Chinese cities, then stopping in South Korea, Japan and then back.
The Chinese trip is about REAL ESTATE PROJECTS. We have a development in Beijing that has already broken ground and will be the showplace of the capital city. Then off to a major city on the South China Sea, where we have a development that will entail a movie studio, hotels, resorts and the like. The piece of land is over 20 miles long. And then on to a development that will become a theme park.
To be clear, none of the above has to do with KISS.
I'm being a bit vague about details, because although all of this is very much happening, it's in the early stages.
The South Korean trip has to do with film and television financing, as well as an opportunity to buy the largest DVD/CD Manufacturing Plant there.
My partners then come home, but I move on to Japan, where I'll do promotion for Simmons Records/Sanctuary Music Group, and my upcoming SOLO ALBUM and SPOKEN WORD DVD.
I'll still try to log on daily, but it may not happen. If I'm not as timely about answering your e mails, or posting news, it's because I'm tied down over there.

My Producing partner, Craig Titley and I, are producing a new movie to be called GENTLEMEN BE SEATED. It's a comedy set in the not too distant future. Today there was a pitch meeting at New Line Cinema, which brought out our DETROIT ROCK CITY movie. We will see soon enough if we have a deal.
Yesterday appeared on MSNBC's DONNIE DEUTSCH program. Deutsch made his mark in New York as a well known marketer.

VH1 came by to interview me for my new "untitled" solo album. We also talked about one of their specials, "RetroSexual"...about the 80's..and mostly, about girls.
Speaking of the Solo Album, we are thinking of making a "SPECIAL BOX SET" very limited version, which would include a few surprises inside. Can't talk about it just yet.

My book SEX MONEY KISS has done very well, thanks to all of you. To celebrate its success, my partners New Millennium/Simmons Books will shortly be releasing a series of FOUR DIFFERENT COVERED VERSIONS, with some new pages detailing some of the newer projects I've gotten involved in.
Since the publication of the book, and thanks largely to the dialog on this web site, I've actually learned a lot. Mostly, it's become clearer that what's good for the goose, is not necessarily good for the gander, despite what we've been told. And, that no matter how hard we try (men and women alike) and no matter what we imagine, the reality is, that men and women have very little in common. That's a frightening thought, when you consider most of us wind up living under the same roof together.
So, if we want different things in life (men don't want to go shopping with you, no matter how much we care about you and you women don't want to go to the ball game with us, no matter how much you care about us...and exceptions to the rule don't count...there aren't enough of you to make a difference)...then the question is, how do we get along?
Simply put, women want one guy to always be there for them. Men want access to multiple partners. Trust me. It's true. So, how do we make it work???
Any of you care to tackle the last question?

CELEB INSIDER:Gene's Advice For Daughter
KISS frontman Gene Simmons won't make anyone's list of feminist fellows, what with his constant chauvenistic and lascivious statements. But get the veteran rocker talking about his 11-year-old daughter and the tables get turned pretty fast.
"I tell her to break the cycle. I tell her not to depend on man for a definition of who she is. I tell her not to depend on a guy for anything. When two girls are talking about a blind date, one will say, 'What does he DO?' When two guys are talking about a blind date, they don't care what your job is," he says. "It's, 'What does she look like?'"
In Simmons' view, parents "shouldn't put dollies into their daughter's hands. That's going to come naturally. Once they're past the pubescent stage, the nesting urge kicks in and they want to take on the guy's name and have babies and become Adam's rib. Then it's the never ending search for someone to take care of you.
"I say give them skills so they don't have to depend on a guy -- computer classes, languages, music..." he says. "Too many women believe everything they do is about making the guy happy, every moment of their waking life. Well, the information age has leveled the playing field. When you don't need the guy's money, you break the cycle."
Simmons, who also characterizes his mother as an extremely strong woman, by the way, laughs as he says, "Listen, I pity the poor guy who is going to try to be my daughter's boyfriend. He's going to have to fetch a few more sticks than the average guy before she'll even give him the time of day."
Simmons also has a 14-year-old son with erstwhile Playmate Shannon Tweed, with whom he's lived for 20 years.
His iconoclastic views extend to marriage. "My daughter understands her mom and her dad never marreid but are happy together. Most people's moms and dads HAVE been married and are not together, and the kids get shuttled back and forth between homes."

The release date of my solo record is fast approaching. And, to say I'm excited would be an understatement. My partners and friends at Sanctuary Music have been very supportive and it's much appreciated. Friendship and loyalty is not soon forgotten.
As you are all aware by now, we have had a change of heart and are looking to call our album DOG. Some of you may think it's for obvious reasons. I leave it up to you.
I want to thank each and every one of you for sending in your Firestarter art. We may post your creations in the near future.
So, for now, kindly stop sending in cover art ideas. We are nearing a "point of view" and of course, a title change.
And, we have tentative plans of releasing a SPEAKING IN TONGUES dvd, which will entail my trip down under about a year ago. It's being edited now and we will tell you more about this project shortly.

Proud to report MY DAD THE ROCK STAR is entering its second season on Canada's Teletoon (their version of Cartoon Network)!!! Eventually, all 26 episodes will be available on dvd.

One of Germany's biggest tv shows, the THOMAS GOTTSCHALK SHOW, came over to the house to do an interview about the upcoming solo album...It should air in Germany end of March.

Attended the BMG post Grammy party in Hollywood. BMG is the entity which manufactures and distributes record labels such as: RCA, J Records, Sanctuary and (because of my relationship with Sanctuary Music), Simmons Records.
Ran into Duff from GUNS 'N ROSES. We traded tai kwan do techniques. He and his lovely wife were there along with a roomful of party goers.
Young Nick Simmons just had his 15th birthday party. Over 100 teens invaded the property. I had a few grownups watching over them to make sure none of the guests disappeared into the bushes.
When it was time for the parents to pick up their brood, MICHAEL CRICHTON came over. Michael, in case you didn't know, created ER, wrote JURASSIC PARK, TWISTER, CONGO as well as writing/directing duties on RUNAWAY -- a movie which featured a horrific bad guy: Me.

 Hey Gene did you check out Inside The NFL on HBO? Chris Collinsworth was due punishment for being the worst at picking games among the co-hosts. He had to come out in Gene Simmons makeup and sing R&R All Nite. Then 4 midgets came out dressed like KISS and joined him along with the rest of the co-hosts. It was hilarious. If you get a chance check it out.

Proud to report my partners and I have signed on the dotted line: We now have our own 20,000 SQ FOOT BUILDING!!! Our building will be the headquarters of a number of new ventures, which I'm still not at liberty to discuss. Some of the areas we're involved in include: Television, Motion Pictures, Overseas Real Estate Projects and other very exciting new opportunities. None of the above will, in any way, prevent me from doing what I love: Touring with my favorite band, KISS. Log onto KISSONLINE.COM for all the latest info. We do, indeed, intend on continuing our (never-ending) tour. As most of you know, we had a ball doing 60 shows with AEROSMITH. Plans are being finalized for an overseas visit in the Spring, and then back to the States for summer shows. Hope to see you all out there.
My Solo Album will be released in the Spring (Simmons Records/Sanctuary Music Group). We have one more track to finish. I've played the album for people who've come by and the response has been amazing. I'm actually a bit surprised at how much people are liking it. The interesting part of all of this is that a variety of different songs wind up being people's favorites. Usually, two or three songs become the popular ones. This album seems to cast a wide net. We will see. Thanks to all of you for sending in your versions of what you think the solo album cover should look like. The stuff we've seen has knocked us out. Please continue to send in your versions until our deadline. So far, we like two very different ideas.
We've also been talking about releasing a DVD, perhaps to be called SPEAKING IN TONGUES (Simmons DVD/Sanctuary Music Group). It will feature some of the fun and games I had while I did a lecture tour of Australia over a year ago. We hope to have it come out at around the same time as the solo album.
Miss Shannon Tweed has finished her book, to be published by Simmons Books/New Millennium. You'll be surprised at how straight forward, funny, sexy and entertaining she is. The book is coming in the Spring.
Took my son Nick and his friend Alex (producer Giorgio Morodor's son) to see IRON MAIDEN. Maiden were terrific. While I usually get the lion's share of attention in public, going out with my son teaches me a good lesson in humility. Nick stands out in a crowd. He's just under 6 foot, 6 inches tall. Wears a size 15 foot. I'm 6 foot, 2 inches tall. I've always been used to being the big guy. Not around my son. But, being in KISS has its rewards. For one thing, when your son finds another band interesting, you can always say "..oh yeah. We took them out as our supporting act on their first tour in the early '80s (Europe)." It's great to hear him say, "...really? Wow."
MY DAD THE ROCK STAR (my cartoon show) is spreading around the world. It has sold in Asia and South America. Check out the opening bit at the top of this page. We also have a new television series project called THE DISCIPLES, based on the Image comic book. We have been pitching it around town. There is a good possibility that by this time next year, you will be seeing it on television. I'm partnered with Dark Horse's Mike Richardson and Barry Levine.

Within each category, just one gold, one silver, and one bronze are awarded. The number of pewter awards, or honorable mentions, varies from category to category. Pieces are judged by graphic artists, production managers and print buyers.
